Susan Louise Matulich, Esteemed Social Worker, Passes at 75

BREAKING NEWS: Renowned social worker and artist Susan Louise Matulich has passed away at the age of 75. Matulich died on December 5, 2025, at De Un Amor Care Facility, leaving a profound impact on her community in Santa Cruz County, California.

Matulich, born on February 1, 1950, in El Centro, California, dedicated her life to mental health services and the arts. After completing her education with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from San Jose State University, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, significantly contributing to children’s mental health services in Watsonville.

In her professional career, Matulich served as the Program Manager at North County Mental Health. She was instrumental in developing clinical care documentation systems that enhanced mental health services across the county. Colleagues praise her exemplary computer skills and dedication to improving mental health care.

Beyond her professional achievements, Matulich had a passion for travel, immersing herself in the cultures of Mexico and Europe. Her love for life was evident in her hobbies, including golfing at Spring Hills Golf Club, where she often played five times a week.

A vibrant member of her community, Matulich served on the board of Pajaro Valley Arts and shared her culinary talents through a gourmet club, showcasing her Croatian family recipes. She enjoyed bringing people together over good food and shared experiences.

Matulich is survived by her sister, Janet Matulich, her nephews Greg, Micael, Tyler, and Isaac, as well as close friends Michelle Rheuby, Deborah Burton, and Paul Bellina.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date, with arrangements entrusted to Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Her legacy as a healer and artist will continue to inspire those who knew her.
