Texas A&M has secured a significant commitment from Raylaun Henry, a four-star cornerback for the class of 2027. Henry announced his decision just hours before the Aggies achieved a comeback victory against South Carolina on November 15, 2023. Head coach Mike Elko and former defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson, now the defensive coordinator at Kansas State, successfully recruited Henry, outpacing several top-tier programs in the process.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 180 pounds, Henry possesses the physical attributes needed to excel as a No. 1 cornerback. His recent performance helped his team, St. Frances Academy, secure a National Championship title against Corner Canyon, a team featuring fellow Aggie commitment, Helaman Casuga, who is a four-star quarterback in the 2026 class.
Under Elko’s leadership, Texas A&M’s secondary has shown notable improvement over the past two seasons. The addition of more talent over the coming years is expected to enhance this progress further. Elko is currently focused on acquiring veteran players through the transfer portal to strengthen the team ahead of the 2026 season. However, the recruiting process continues, as evidenced by the ongoing Under Armour All-American Game, where many of A&M’s 2027 commitments and prospects, including Henry, have been engaging with recruiting analysts.
During an interview with Joseph Hastings from GigEm247, Henry reaffirmed his commitment to Texas A&M, stating he is “150% committed” as he looks forward to the new year. This confirmation is a positive development for the Aggies, although it has been reported by Steve Wiltfong of Rivals/On3 that Henry is likely to take official visits to Ohio State and Alabama during the summer. Given his status as a top-50 prospect, the interest from these prestigious programs is not unexpected.
Despite the potential visits, Elko’s reputation as a top developer of cornerback talent could give Texas A&M an advantage. Henry can look to current player Dezz Ricks, a junior cornerback who has emerged as one of the top defensive backs in the nation under Elko’s guidance.
As recruiting efforts continue and the excitement builds for the upcoming seasons, Texas A&M fans will be closely monitoring Henry’s journey and the broader recruitment landscape.
