Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, is undergoing a significant transformation as crews prepare the venue for the upcoming AMA Monster Energy Supercross Championship series. This week, the stadium’s lush green baseball field is being converted into a dirt racing track, marking the start of an exciting season for off-road motorcycle racing.
The transformation requires approximately 500 truckloads of dirt, with around 400 dump trucks actively hauling in the material. The process began just after Christmas and is scheduled to be completed by January 8, 2026. Workers from Feld Entertainment are shaping the dirt into mounds and ramps, creating a unique track design that enhances the racing experience.
Preparations Underway for Thrilling Events
Director of Track Construction, Kenny Henry, noted that each track is crafted using about 6,000 yards of dirt, allowing for a variety of challenges for riders. The efforts extend beyond the track itself, as staff are also cleaning the stadium’s bleachers to ensure a welcoming environment for fans attending the events.
The Supercross motorcycles will kick off their racing season on January 10, 2026. The day will feature a FanFest from 09:30 to 15:00, offering fans the chance to obtain autographs and witness team preparations before the main racing event, which will commence at 15:30 following an opening ceremony.
Following the Supercross event, the stadium will host the popular Monster Jam shows on multiple dates: January 17-18, January 31, February 1, and February 21-22. Each of these shows will also include a pit party, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the oversized trucks and their drivers.

The dirt used for the track is stored nearby for future events, highlighting the stadium’s versatility in hosting various entertainment spectacles throughout the year. After the Supercross event, the venue will welcome back the Supercross series for additional racing on January 24.
