Law Enforcement Torch Run Flames Through Nashville Ahead of 2026 Special Olympics

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is set to blaze through Nashville on June 13, 2026, marking the critical Final Leg in the lead-up to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. This coast-to-coast relay carries the cherished Flame of Hope through Downtown Nashville starting at 10:30 a.m. ET, culminating with a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. ET at Bridgestone Arena Plaza.

This historic torch journey unites law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes as they travel toward Minnesota, where over 3,000 competitors, including 118 from Tennessee, will compete in 16 Olympic-style sports from June 20-26, 2026. The Flame of Hope’s passage through Nashville highlights the powerful partnership between law enforcement and athletes committed to inclusion nationwide.

Adam Germek, President and CEO of Special Olympics Tennessee, emphasized the significance:

“It’s an honor for Nashville to be part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s Final Leg to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. This Torch Run represents the strong partnership between law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes, and it sends a clear message that inclusion belongs in every community.”

The Final Leg of the LETR serves as the ultimate countdown to the Games, which unfold from May 29 through June 20, 2026. The Flame of Hope began its journey in Chicago, the birthplace of Special Olympics, before splitting into two routes covering the East Coast and West/Central regions. These routes converge in Minnesota ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

On its route, the flame will travel through 13 states, cross multiple time zones, and cover estimated distances of around 10,000 miles. Among the torchbearers are local Nashville law enforcement and specially selected Special Olympics athletes recognized for outstanding dedication and leadership within the LETR movement.

Community members are urged to come out and cheer as the Flame of Hope passes through Downtown Nashville, including Broadway. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and concludes with an official ceremony at Bridgestone Arena Plaza at 11:30 a.m., offering a powerful opportunity to celebrate the resilience and spirit of athletes who inspire across the nation.

A national team of 73 participants, comprised of 53 law enforcement officers and 6 Special Olympics athletes, accompany the flame on this pivotal Final Leg. The torch relay will officially conclude at Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus, where the Flame of Hope will ignite the cauldron and open the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games on June 20, 2026.
