New Kids on the Block to Headline Boston Legacy FC’s Historic Game

Pop group New Kids on the Block will perform during the halftime show of the inaugural home game for Boston Legacy FC, a new women’s soccer team, at Gillette Stadium. The team announced this exciting addition on March 12, 2024. The event is set to take place on March 14, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the home venue of the New England Patriots and Revolution.

The halftime performance promises to be a celebration of both the city and the band, featuring a medley of hits such as “Hangin’ Tough,” “Step by Step,” and “You Got It (The Right Stuff).” Boston Legacy FC’s president, Jennifer van Dijk, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that this event marks the beginning of an “unforgettable inaugural season.” She highlighted the significance of the occasion, saying it will celebrate everything that makes Boston unique, from its professional sports teams to its rich musical heritage.

Ticket sales for the first-ever game have already exceeded 20,000, reflecting strong community interest. Donnie Wahlberg, a member of New Kids on the Block, emphasized the band’s loyalty to their hometown, declaring, “We will never stop being Boston fans – we are loyal to the end.” He added that their performance represents a new and exciting chapter in Boston sports history.

The team plans to hold its home games at White Stadium in Boston once renovations are finished. For the current season, Boston Legacy FC will split its 15 home games between Gillette Stadium and Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. This strategy aims to engage soccer fans across New England while establishing a solid foundation for the team’s future.

As Boston Legacy FC prepares for its historic home opener, the collaboration with New Kids on the Block is set to create a memorable experience for fans and mark a significant moment in the city’s sports landscape. The event is expected to draw a diverse audience, uniting fans of the band and supporters of women’s soccer in a celebration of local culture and community pride.
