According to authorities, at exactly 9:34 p.m., the pedestrian was struck by a westbound 2008 Mercedes Benz ML350 driven by Clarissa Macioce, 50, of St. James. Emergency responders rushed the victim to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police confirm that Macioce was not injured in the crash. The involved vehicle has been impounded for a thorough safety inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.
