Three Arrested After Protest Erupts Outside Colorado Springs McDonald’s
Colorado Springs, CO — Police arrested three individuals Saturday evening after a protest outside a McDonald’s on the corner of North Academy and San Miguel Street escalated, forcing the fast-food restaurant to temporarily close its doors.
The incident unfolded around 7 p.m. when officers responded to reports that demonstrators were blocking entrances and interfering with customers and employees. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the group initially refused police orders to relocate their protest to the adjacent public sidewalk.
A CSPD lieutenant reported the crowd “refused all attempts by police to communicate and began surrounding and blocking the public entrances/exits,” obstructing both pedestrian and vehicle traffic on private property. Demonstrators reportedly banged on vestibule doors and windows, heightening tensions and creating fear among restaurant patrons and staff.
“The group showed hostility towards police officers, and patrons and employees became fearful for their safety,” the lieutenant added.
Three Detained Amid Elevated Tensions
The standoff ended with the arrests of Jacob Ross Lesterud, Brandon Ean Rincon, and Frances Archuleta. Two were charged with trespassing, while one faced charges related to police interference and obstruction. Once police detained the three, the remaining protesters dispersed.
